Thera

You arrived in the last cargo as Thera’s new systems technician, assigned to take over a post whose former holder is officially listed as transferred to Ganymede. The bore is part of the life-supporting work you have come to maintain, and the coming decision about its future will determine whose rules that work serves.

Thera is a small settlement on Europa, home to about forty people whose lives are mostly spent in hangars and buried ice corridors. The settlement depends on water and ice sold to ships and on the old bore into the ocean beneath the ice. Simple life in the ocean is protected by law, and sampling requires council approval; brief excursions outside require a functioning suit because Jupiter’s radiation is deadly.
